Update on remote learning

Update on remote learning and school
Families of DHS

In light of the unprecedented circumstances we are in, I want to send some guidance out on remote learning.

DHS teachers are working hard to provide opportunities for your student to continue learning (and keep them occupied while they are stuck at home).  High school is different from the other grades; our students are held accountable through MCAS tests, AP Exams, SATs, and other measures that they need to be ready to succeed on.  For that reason, I highly encourage you to ensure your student participates in online learning opportunities we are offering.

To keep students from being overwhelmed, we have worked out a schedule for classes:
Mondays and Wednesdays will be for Math, Science, and the Related Arts (business, art, computers, music, and foods).
Tuesdays and Thursdays will be for English, History, Spanish, and PE/Health.
Fridays will be for teachers to hold "office hours" and offer extra help.
On these days teachers will post new work and hold any type of online collaboration meetings through platforms such as Zoom.
Advanced Placement Classes will continue to meet daily.  They have the tests to prepare for.

Please have your student check their school email account for specific information from their individual teachers.

I will continue to post other information for families, including changes to school events and support for internet connections at home, on the principals blog.

Thank you and stay safe
